What can people do to make sure we get a good contract? The most important thing you can do is support the bargaining committee: by signing a yellow membership, by keeping informed, by coming to meetings, and by wearing your union shirts and buttons at work. All of these things tell us that you are 100% behind us. That will make it easier for us to hold firm at the table. why is the company putting out all those flyers telling people not to sign a card? Probably because they don't want to see us united for a good contract. After all, if they can divide us, they won't have to put in the time, effort and money it will take to negotiate a fair contract for all. what does it mean to sign a card? By signing a yellow card, you become a member of the UAW with full voting rights you will not pay dues until thirty-one days after the contract is ratified. Only people hired after contract is ratified pay the initiation fee. Signing a card now means that you support the Union and want to have said in what the contract looks like. Whether you voted yes or no last August, now is the time to join the vast majority of SGA workers who have already joined the union. Together we can make a difference. |
